We recently received the following statement
from the EU Dog and Cat Alliance:

Dear Alliance Members,
Further to the news that the United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union, let me assure you that the work of the EU Dog & Cat Alliance will continue as before.
We will continue to engage with policymakers to introduce and improve legislation related to dogs and cats both at national and the EU level. Our Alliance is strong with almost 60 members from 20 different countries, and we have built up good relationships with a wide range of Members of the European Parliament and the European Commission. We have come far since our first days and plan to continue turning our ideas into concrete actions and results.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regarding the technical next steps, the UK will remain a full member of the EU for at least two years. This time may be extended further if all other EU countries agree. During this period the UK will have to renegotiate its relationship with the EU, including trade and other deals and the shape of its political cooperation.
The Alliance will be developing a new strategy going forward. The political climate in Brussels has changed, and we will adapt our working plan accordingly in order to remain as effective in getting our message across as ever. In the next days we will limit our lobbying activities until a clearer picture emerges; however, we plan to launch into action as soon as business returns to usual and continue to focus on our priority the welfare of dogs and cats across the continent.
Kind regards,
Simona
